Car Insurance and Rental Vehicles-What You Need to Know

Insurance is all about protecting yourself and your property. That extends to our fleet here at Elite Truck Rental as well. Insurance is a core tenet of how we keep our vans and trucks as well as our staff safe and secure.

Here are things to consider in regard to insurance and rental vehicles:

  1. Know your policy: Your own personal car insurance policy is specific to you and has details and coverage that relate to your own vehicles and drivers. It is best to fully comprehend what your policy covers and what it does not cover. Take a look at your written policy or call your insurance agent for details. Specifically, it is best to ask: Does my current policy cover a car or van rental? If so, what type of coverage is applied? Damage to vehicles or personal injury? These are all great questions to ask, so that you are not surprised if an unfortunate accident does occur while you are driving one of our vehicles.
  2. Talk to your expert: While we are happy to ask questions regarding our own liability insurance offerings, we cannot offer you guidance on your own policy and plans. We can outline what our policies cover and you can discuss the specifics with your own insurance agent to see if it is more comprehensive and a good idea to purchase.
  3. Do your homework beforehand: In order to make your rental process go quickly and efficiently, we advise our renters to make these calls and connections before coming in to pick up their vehicle or before signing a contract. We encourage you to be fully aware of all of the details of your policy and coverage before you decide if obtaining a policy from us is the right decision for you.

Be Ready When You Head Out to Our Lot

Being prepared before you grab the keys from us or sign a contract is a great way to ease some of the stress related to moving and changing up your life. You will need to have your insurance card on hand or available electronically on your phone when you arrive at Elite. You also need to have your driver’s license on you as well as provide us with the names of any additional drivers who may be getting behind the wheel of one of our vans or trucks. This individual also needs to have his or her driver’s license available. We also ask that you have your credit card number on file with us for liability purposes, just in case.

We want you to take the time to look over the moving van or truck before you leave our lot to ensure that it looks good to you. We are proud to serve all of our communities in the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland areas with our van and truck rental services. Reach out to us through our online contact form today.
